Last Day in t’ Lake District

Our last full day in Staveley was to be spent walking a section of The Dales Way, the whole of which we had completed some years ago. The morning was rainy, so when it cleared we headed off in the direction of Bowness along the official route.

Now here’s the thing: Neither of us remember any part of the route we followed today. Not a skerrick!  Maybe all those years ago we were too bushed to notice the lovely countryside through which we were passing. Or maybe the entire Dales Way was so beautiful that we didn’t notice it.

All-in-all, though, we had a lovely hike today. Out and back, as far as we got before we could spy a lake or some such indication of the end of the official path of The Dales Way. None was forthcoming, so we mounted a hill, saw nothing and turned on our heels back to Staveley. Just the sort of activity to wind up our lovely stay in t’ Lake District.
